Clearwater Sunday Speakers Clearwater, Florida

5/31/2020

Research beforehand showed this club has 9 members in the club, so I really didn't know what to expect.  They did have a very nice website that was inviting to visitors.  It told the visitors "What is in it for me".  That is a key answer you must give in order to get people to want to join a club.

Before the meeting even started one of the members, Renee, asked if they could visit our club.  I really liked that.  They also have a Facebook page.  I have realized on my travels that not all clubs have a Facebook page.  I guess I thought that was a given. They had 3 speakers and 2 were guests and 3 evaluators and 2 were guests. This surprised me.

They began with pledge but one thing they said that I had not heard any other clubs do, they said anyone from America or chooses to can pledge.  Steve and I had no trouble saying the pledge to the American flag but saying this beforehand I am sure puts anyone at ease who is uncomfortable pledging.  I appreciate them considering the feelings of the members and guests.

Although this was a good meeting with welcoming members, this club had a lot of issues with technology.  Tops of heads were cut off on the screen with many of the members, one speaker"s screen was frozen the entire time she was speaking, and there was a buzzing sound almost throughout the meeting as if some microphones need to be turned off.  Many of the members had the camera pointed up and from the angle you were viewing the ceiling. These were just some of the technical difficulties.

With the world we are in today, all clubs will be online for the foreseeable future; therefore, members need to start using this time learning about good online etiquette.  We are an educational organization and this is another tool in our belt we can use to get our message out so we need to learn to do it in the best way possible.
